FT TX HOSTS EVENING YEARLING SALE

Fasig-Tipton Texas sold yearlings at night for the first time in its history last year, and the company will follow the same format for its Aug. 26 auction at Lone Star Park. The tentative start time will be 5  p.m. Central, said director of sales Tim Boyce.

“I thought the evening session was received real well last year,” Boyce said Wednesday.

Boyce said he expects this year’s catalog to number between 100 and 120 yearlings, although the deadline to enter the sale has been extended through the first week of July.

“We picked up 10 [entrants] yesterday,” he said.

Boyce said he has received an influx of Oklahoma-breds for this year’s sale, while the group of Louisiana-bred yearlings on tap are “quite outstanding,” among them a colt by champion Summer Bird. He also said there is a quality selection of Texas-breds.
