TTA ANNUAL MEETING & AWARDS BANQUET REMINDER
The Texas Thoroughbred Association’s Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, June 24th at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie. We look forward to meeting new friends, renewing acquaintances and enjoying some great Texas racing, including the 6th annual renewal of the Lane’s End Stallion Scholarship Stakes, now known as the Lane’s End – Danny Shifflett Scholarship Stakes.
During the awards ceremonies, the Texas Champion “Horse of the Year” and the owners and breeders of the champions of each racing division will be honored, along with the recipients of the Allen Bogan Memorial Award for TTA Member of the Year and the T. I. “Pops” Harkins Award for Lifetime Achievement. Current Texas Thoroughbred Educational Fund scholarship recipients will be introduced, along with an update on the activities of The Paddock Foundation, a non-profit corporation dedicated to the lifelong welfare of the Thoroughbred horse.
There will be live and silent auction items, including artwork, jewelry, books, a Tito’s Vodka gift basket and more, with proceeds to benefit the TTEF and The Paddock Foundation.

GOVERNOR SIGNS HB 1106
Governor Greg Abbott has signed House Bill 1106 into law, effective September 1st, amending the Racing Act to remove the Comptroller of Public Accounts or his designee as one of the two ex-officio members of the Texas Racing Commission, and naming the Commissioner of Agriculture or his designee for that position.
The makeup of the TRC is otherwise unchanged, consisting of seven members appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate with the other ex-officio member being the chairman of the Public Safety Commission or a member of the Public Safety Commission designated by the chairman.
Ex-officio members do have the right to vote.
