Crossbow  , a graded stakes-placed son of Bernardini  , has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Clarence Scharbauer Jr.’s Valor Farm near Pilot Point, Texas.

Owned by Scharbauer, he will stand for $1,500 live foal payable Oct. 1 of year bred.

Five-year-old Crossbow was stakes-placed in New York, running second in the Hunch Stakes at Aqueduct and third in the James Marvin Stakes (gr. III) at Saratoga.

Crossbow registered front-running fractions of :21.40 and :44.50 first time out. His accomplishments also included recording a 104 Beyer speed figure and a 1 Ragozin number. Crossbow was retired with a record of 4-2-2 from 11 starts and earnings of $182,076.

Crossbow is one of two stakes-placed runners out of multiple graded stakes winner Forest Heiress. By Forest Wildcat, Forest Heiress is a full sister to two stakes winners including grade I winner and successful sire Wildcat Heir  .
