TTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION
The TTA Board of Directors met via conference call this week and approved the following slate of candidates seeking to serve a 3-year term (2020-2022) as at-large directors:

Keith Asmussen (incumbent); Heidi Bailey of Valley View; Susan Bedwell of Aubrey; Mike Burleson of Cameron; Ken Carson (incumbent); Betty Knox of Granbury; Rick Penn of Parker; Tracy Sheffield (incumbent); Bill Tracy (incumbent) and Henry Witt Jr. (incumbent).

Ballots will be sent to all current TTA members by November 1, with a receipt deadline of December 15.

TEXAS CONNECTIONS IN UPCOMING STAKES
Today, Steve Asmussen sends out 8/1 Engage (KY) for Woodford Racing LLC (W. S. Farish Jr.) in the $250,000 G2 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes at Keeneland. 

Steve also has 20/1 Three D Flag (KY) for Mike G. Rutherford in the $400,000 G1 Darley Allcibiades Stakes. Also competing are 20/1 Spitefulness (KY) owned by Agave Racing Stable (Mark Martinez) and Rockin Robin Stakes, and 5/1 Alandra (KY) owned by Helen C. Alexander and Helen K. Groves.

On Saturday at Belmont, Asmussen has 6/1 Gozilla (KY) in the $500,000 G1 Champagne Stakes.

On Saturday at Keeneland, Asmussen has 9/2 Mia Mischief (KY) in the $250,000 G2 Keeneland Thoroughbred Club of American Stakes, who is owned in partnership by Bill and Corinne Heiligbrodt.

In the $500,000 G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity, Asmussen will send out 12/1 Life on the Road (KY).

In the $1-million G1 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes is Bowies Hero (KY), owned in partnership by Agave Racing Stable (Mark Martinez).

In the $250,000 G3 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland on October 6, Danny Pish will saddle 20/1 Deviant (ON) for Chris Hicks’ Red Lane Thoroughbreds.

Asmussen sends out 8/1 Shes a Julie (KY) in the $500,000 G1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes. 

On Tuesday, October 8 at Indiana Grand Race Course, Custers Last Stand (IN) is entered in the $100,000 Crown Ambassador Stakes.  He is owned by Miles Childers, Ed Wright Cattle Company and L. T. B. Inc (Bernard S. Flint).  Odds are 12/1.

That ownership group also has 3/1 Super Jen (IN) in the $100,000 Indiana Stallion Stakes.

RTCA WHITE HORSE AWARD HONOREES
Racetrack Chaplaincy of America has announced that Corey Johnsen is this year’s recipient of their Community Service Award.  This award is presented annually to an individual or group who has made significant contributions to racetrack chaplaincy ministries through involvement and participation. RTCA executive director Dan Waits said, “Throughout his illustrious career, Corey has always promoted and championed the Chaplaincies of RTCA and is very deserving.  This award shows our deepest appreciation.”
