Love, admiration and respect for the thoroughbred horse is what unites the members of the Texas Thoroughbred Association. Our appreciation and care for these magnificent athletes is at the core of what we do.
Commitment
The Texas Thoroughbred Association is committed to making the sport of thoroughbred horse racing as safe as possible for both human and horse athletes. These efforts include working with the Texas Racing Commission on developing new protocols to identify at risk horses before any injury occurs. The board members and staff work closely with the racetracks to create a competitive environment that is as safe as it can possibly be made.
Our Horses
The Texas Thoroughbred Association is committed to the care and welfare of the horse throughout the entire life of that horse. The Paddock Foundation is the result of that commitment. The Paddock Foundation raises and distributes funds to groups dedicated to finding second careers for Thoroughbreds when their racing careers are finished.
The Texas Thoroughbred Association and The Paddock Foundation have brought the Ring the Bell program to Texas Tracks. The Ring the Bell program creates an easy opportunity for thoroughbred owners to donate to thoroughbred aftercare. In the winner’s circle the winning owner can choose to donate a portion of their purse winnings to The Paddock Foundation. Once they do so, they can ring the bell in the winner’s circle to announce the donation.
The Texas Thoroughbred Association is pleased to announce that because of the love and dedication that Texas thoroughbred owners have for their horses, the bell has been rung at virtually every thoroughbred race in Texas since the program began.
The next time you are at the races, and you hear the bell ring, know that another owner is dedicated to the well-being and lifetime care of our horses and has just demonstrated that commitment.
