LONE STAR PARK TO CONCLUDE THOROUGHBRED MEET THIS WEEKEND
Sunday, July 17 is closing day of the 2016 Spring Thoroughbred Season at Lone Star Park. Tonight is Dollar Night, with general admission, programs, hot dogs, soft drinks and popcorn all for just $1 each, and beer is just $2. It’s also Fan Appreciation night. Every fan aged 21 and up can enter to win great prizes from Lone Star Park and its partners including cash prizes, gift cards, tablets and more. You must be present to receive entry form by 7:25 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First race post time is 7:05 p.m. with nine live races on the card.
Saturday night, live racing continues with eight races on the evening’s card. Pat Green will take the stage after the final race for the final show of the 2016 Lone Star Music Series.
Sunday has nine live races scheduled. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and first race post time is 2:05 p.m.
With 91 wins through July 10th, it appears likely that jockey C. J. McMahon is about to win his second consecutive riding title at the track. Trainer Karl Broberg is close to locking the training title, while the owner title is still up for grabs.
LONE STAR PARK AT GRAND PRAIRIE TRAINING CENTER 2016 SUMMER SESSION
The track will be open for summer training from July 24 through August 28. Cost will be $6.50 per day, per stall or $20 to ship in & train (work or gallop). Official workouts will be available Wednesdays and Saturdays. You must have a copy of foal papers in the Racing Office and the exercise rider must be identified and licensed by the TXRC to get an official workout. RACING AT GCFG THIS WEEKEND
Summer racing continues this weekend at Gillespie County Fair Grounds in Fredericksburg, with post times of 1:00 p.m. each day. Saturday has a 12-race card with two 870-yard races and a 4-furlong Thoroughbred maiden race.
Sunday, there are 10 races with 4-furlong and 7-furlong Thoroughbred claiming races.
The Texas Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 13th. Nominations will be taken at time of entry on Wednesday, August 10th. For more information, contact the Racing Office at 830.997.9334, 830.997.9414 or 830.997.6027.
ACCREDITED TEXAS-BREDS IN WEEKEND STAKES
On Saturday, My Kathleen (Bob and John – Buck High) will compete as part of a field of five in the $50,000 Northland Oaks Handicap for 3-year-old fillies going one mile at Northlands Park in Edmondton, Alberta. Bred by Jackie and Gerald Rich, the filly is now owned by Dialed In Racing Stable, Smokin Guns Stable and True North Stables. She has morning line odds of 3/1.
Cattle Company (Early Flyer – Miss Lorena) will run in the Colorado Derby Stakes for 3-year-olds going a mile and 1/16th at Arapahoe Park on Sunday. The stakes-placed colt was bred by the Estate of Clarence Scharbauer Jr. and now runs for Jeff West.

SUCCESSFUL ROSES TO RIBBONS EVENT AT LONE STAR PARK
Last Saturday was a beautiful day at Lone Star Park, with a large turnout of attendees looking for an off-track Thoroughbred to begin a new career. There were almost 30 horses presented, with 21 finding a new home. The next event will be at Retama Park in November.
