News and Notes for December 14, 2018

 ATB’S IN WEEKEND STAKES
Several nice stakes are on tap at Remington Park on Sunday, including the $100,000 Trapeze Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going a mile, with a field of nine including two Accredited Texas-breds.

Trainer Bob Young will saddle Ciao Ciao (Grasshopper – Dehere’s Dream), bred by owner Joe Archer’s Fletcher Properties Inc.  In her last out on December 1, she finished second in a maiden special weight and has odds of 30-1.

Bred by Tom Durant, stakes placed Miss Perfecta (Run Away and Hide – Perfect Meadow) runs for owner Randy Patterson.  She was third in the $50,000 E. L. Gaylord Memorial Stakes on September 30th and was also third in her most recent out on November 20th here.  Trained by Randy Morse, she has odds of 9-2.

The 7-2 favorite in the race is Kentucky-bred Cowgirls Like Us (My Golden Song – Nothinbettertodo), a homebred for Douglas Scharbauer.  The multiple stakes winner was RNA’d in the Texas 2-Year-Old Sale and went on to win the Darby’s Daughter division of the Clarence Scharbauer Jr. Texas Stallion Stakes on August 15th and the $75,000 La Senorita Stakes on September 4th at Retama Park. She is trained by Bret Calhoun.

TTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION
The deadline for receipt of ballots in the TTA Board of Directors election is 5pm on Saturday, December 15th.  Votes will be tabulated on Tuesday, December 18 by TTA staff and directors who are not up for re-election.  Results will be posted on texasthoroughbred.com and social media later that afternoon.

TTA ANNUAL MEETING AND AWARDS DINNER SLATED FOR MARCH 23 AT SHRP
We are pleased to announce that Sam Houston Race Park will host our Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner on Saturday evening, March 23rd.  The Texas Champions Day race card will include six $50,000 stakes for accredited Texas-breds: the Bara Lass, Groovy, Richard King, Yellow Rose, San Jacinto and Spirit of Texas.

NOTES: The Texas Racing Commission meeting scheduled for December 11 was cancelled and will be rescheduled…Congrats to former TTA Executive Director Dave Hooper, a recipient of the ROAP Pete Pederson Award which is presented to stewards who have demonstrated professional excellence, integrity, and benevolent consideration in the performance of their duties…TTA’s online auction of 2019 stallion breedings is now closed.  Any remaining seasons are available for purchase at the stated minimum bid on a first come, first served basis.
