NEW OWNERS SEMINAR TO BE OFFERED IN CONJUNCTION WITH TEXAS SALE
TTA is pleased to announce the return of our New Owners Seminar on Sunday, August 20th in the Thoroughbred Sales Pavilion at Lone Star Park.

Beginning at 10:30, the seminar is free to attend and provides an opportunity for attendees to learn more about buying horses at auction from a panel of experts discussing a variety of topics.

PRE-SALE PARTY
Join us at 6:30 on Sunday, August 20 in the Thoroughbred Sales Pavilion at Lone Star Park for our Pre-Sale Party.  This is a great way to beat the heat, enjoy cold drinks and hors d’oeuvres while visiting with friends, and put your name in the drawing for doorprizes.  The party is free to attend, and all are welcome.

TEXAS RACING COMMISSION NEWS
The Texas Racing Commission met in Austin on August 8th, but took no action regarding matters related to the agency’s funding.  The Commissioners voted to postpone those agenda items until a meeting can be held in September. The date has not yet been announced.

The TRC website now contains links to new RMTC brochures regarding Herbal and Homeopathic Remedies: Understanding the Risks and Understanding Environmental Risks.

GILLESPIE COUNTY RACE GROUNDS
Live racing returns to Gillespie County Fair Grounds this weekend, with a 1pm post time.  On Saturday, there are three races for Thoroughbreds.  Race 1 is a $7,500 4-furlong maiden special weight for 3-year-olds and up, with a field of 10 including 5 Accredited Texas-breds: Play for Joy (Waupaca – Abra Joy); Ravengaff (Gaff – Emporia); Gossip’s Terror (House of Terrors – Miss Gossip); Slick City Bling (Too Much Bling – City Slick); and White Walls (Seeking a Home – Isolde).

Race 9 is a $7,700 5 1/2-furlong allowance for 3-year-olds and up, with 5 Accredited Texas-breds in a field of 10: Sweet Dream Baby (Oratory – My Sweet Jolie); Expect Herman (Valid Expectations – My Lady Pearl); Sardaearly (Early Flyer – Sardis Lake); Valid Silver Charm (Valid Performance – Sail on Silvergirl); and Lazar Menchen (Gone East – Jared’s Twilight).

Race 10 is a $6,700 claimer for 3-year-olds and up going 7 furlongs.  There are 3 Accredited Texas-breds in the field of 10: Moon Hopper (Grasshopper – Summer Moon); Prince Isaac (Catienus – Cantrell Road) and Monster House (Uncle Abbie – Sexiano).

Sunday’s card consists of Quarter Horse trial races.
