FIRST WINNER FOR FRESHMAN TEXAS STALLION SILVER CITY
Freshman sire Silver City was represented by his first winner on Sunday when his 2-year-old daughter Promise Me Silver rolled to a 6 ¾-length maiden victory at Lone Star Park. Ridden by Cliff Berry for trainer Bret Calhoun and breeder/owner Robert Luttrell, the Texas-bred filly won with ease at first asking and stopped the timer in a rapid :51.61 for 4 ½ furlongs. Promise Me Silver, who is out of the Macho Uno mare Uno Mas Promesa, earned $11,880 for the win.
Silver City is a stakes-winning and graded stakes-placed son of Unbridled’s Song standing at the late Clarence Scharbauer Jr.’s Valor Farm near Pilot Point, Texas. Silver City won four of eight career starts and is one of four stakes winners produced by the stakes-placed Mt. Livermore dam Proposal. Silver City stood the 2014 breeding season for a $2,000 fee and his first crop comprises 19 2-year-olds.
