(Q) Which races qualify for Bonus Prize Money

(A) ALL Maiden Special Weight and Allowance Races (beginningFebruary 8, 2025) and ALL Stakes Races. 

(Q) Do these bonus funds automatically go into my account with theHorsemen’s Bookkeeper just like regular purse earnings?
(A) No. Since the Horse Industry Escrow Account is the source of the Bonus Prize Money, all such funds will be paid through the Texas Thoroughbred Association (TTA) by check and mailed to the address on file for you. Each check will be accompanied by a detailed statement listing the horses and races the payment covers.

(Q) When will I receive payment of bonus funds earned for racing at SHRP?
(A) The current plan is to pay funds monthly, based on the previous month’s cleared race results.  However, the distribution of funds totally depends on when the Texas Racing Commission makes the funds available to TTA.

(Q) What paperwork is needed to receive the funds and where do I get it?
(A) Since this is a new program, everyone needs to submit a new Form W-9 to Texas Thoroughbred Association, even if previously provided. You can get a blank form from the Horsemen’s Bookkeeper.

1 Individuals must have a Form W-9 providing their Social Security Number.

2 Formal Business Partnerships should list their EIN on the FormW-9.

3 If a horse is owned by several individuals, we may need a notarized affidavit signed by all partners authorizing one partner to receive the funds and distribute the appropriate percentage to the other partner(s).

4 Checks will not be issued until post-race tests are cleared.
