Texas Stallion Unbridled Sheriff Gets First Winner at Lone Star Park

Texas stallion Unbridled Sheriff was represented by his first winner on Wednesday at Lone Star Park when his 3-year-old son Unbridled Posse won a $40,120 maiden special weight race for accredited Texas-breds. Ivan Arellano rode the gelding for trainer Brent Davidson and clocked five furlongs on the turf in :57.03. The win was a trifecta of sorts for Texas horseman Steve Baker as the breeder and owner of Unbridled Posse and the owner of Unbridled Sheriff, who stands at his Baker Ranch near Iredell, Texas.

Unbridled Posse had hit the board in two prior maiden races, and this effort pushed his earnings to $32,897.

Unbridled Sheriff is a son of Posse who was also raced by Baker and trained by Davidson. The Kentucky-bred earned nearly $90,000 on the track with four wins and a third — beaten by just a head and a nose — in the $100,000 Sunday Silence Stakes at Louisiana Downs.
