Texas Sire Penitent Man Claims First Winner

Witt You Expect became the first winner for sire Penitent Man Aug. 9, capturing her maiden race on the Louisiana Downs card, a 5 1/2 furlong maiden claiming test.

Odilon Martinez rode the 2-year-old filly, taking the lead near the three-eighths pole and stretching it out until reaching the wire in 1:08.34, four lengths ahead of her rivals. Bred in Texas, Witt You Expect is a hombred runner for Henry S. Witt Jr., and is trained by Amanda Barton.

Pentinent Man retired from racing with eight wins and four seconds from his 17 starts. He entered stud at Key Ranch near Salado, Texas in 2010 where his fee was $1,500. He moved to Henry Witt’s farm earlier this year.
