ONLINE BIDDING AVAILABLE FOR TEXAS YEARLING & HORSES OF RACING AGE SALE
TTA is pleased to announce that online bidding will be available to those who are unable to attend the Texas Yearling and Horses of Racing Age sale on Monday, August 24th. We will be partnering with Tampa-based Xcira, LLC who recently provided such services for Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company. Stay tuned for details.

MAILBOX MONEY FOR RACING AT SAM HOUSTON RACE PARK
Earlier this week, breeders and owners of horses who placed first, second or third at Sam Houston Race Park this year received a nice surprise in their mailbox.

TTA had provided a total of $100,000 in source funding to Sam Houston Race Park for the 2020 Thoroughbred meet that was not used.  Therefore, we have completed a retroactive payout for the meet in the total amount of $100,000 with $75,000 going to regular owner ($30,000), breeder ($30,000) and stallion owner ($15,000) awards and $25,000 going to owner bonus awards.

COMING SOON – NEW AWARDS FOR BREEDERS
In 2002, the Racing Act was amended to provide an ATB Owner Bonus for placing 1, 2 or 3 in open company races in Texas.  This was implemented to encourage ATB horses to compete in open company.

Thanks to new funds available from the Horse Industry Escrow Account, we are now able to pay an ATB Bonus to the eligible breeders of horses who place first, second or third in any Texas race in 2020. These awards will be paid out no later than the latter part of September.

Breeders expend significant funds in efforts to produce a racehorse and see no return on investment until a foal is sold or races successfully.  This bonus will encourage breeding with a goal of producing more competitive racehorses.

Presently, owners of Accredited Texas horses may run their horses out of state and enjoy the benefits of purses earned, while their breeders receive nothing on those races.  Again, thanks to new funds available from the Horse Industry Escrow Account, we are implementing an ATB Breeder’s Award for eligible breeders of ATB horses placing 1, 2 or 3 in any race in the US, other than Texas.  Awards are to be payable only on out of state races when there is no live racing in Texas, unless the out of state race is a Stakes with a minimum purse of $50,000.  These awards will be paid out after the end of the calendar year.

Remember that these funds are generated from sales of equine goods and services in Texas, so be sure to support the horse industry by shopping local!

LONE STAR PARK RACING
Entries for Sunday, July 12 show 82 horses in 9 races with $178,000 in purses.  There are 9 races with 81 horses and $223,500 in purses for July 13.
